What is driving you in your business? This episode is probably one of the most important episodes I’ve ever recorded. Today, I share with you something that I personally struggled with personally and professionally.  And I believe you can probably relate to this, too.

The moment you stop striving to achieve something to feel worthy is the moment where you experience something much more powerful

I want to ask you a question, and your answer to this question will ultimately determine the kind of business you create and the quality of life that you experience.

Here’s the million-dollar question - What is driving you in your business?

If I look back on my own network marketing career, what was ALWAYS driving me was ‘the next thing.’  One month it was to sign a certain ‘A-player’ prospect.  The next it was to hit the next rank.  Then to win a company trip.  The car.  The ‘top earner.’….iti went on and on and on.

And each ‘nest thing’ was supposed to make me happy and feel better in my life.

But, after the initial happiness faded away from hitting my goals, I felt exactly the same as I did before. I was still miserable and I felt totally alone, actually I kind of feel worse.

That happiness is gone in seconds…and then you’re on to ‘the next thing’ again.

This is what I call the achievement trap.

We have this mindset that our accomplishments in life will make us worthy, happy, and fulfilled in life. We do the hustle to reach our goals.  Then we realize that each new accomplishment has a very empty, hollow feeling.

I hope this episode sheds light on your own achievement trap. I’m going to teach you how to break free from this in your business so that you’ll start finding more sustainable happiness, joy, and fulfillment in the work that you do.

Are you ‘busy’ in your business, but you’re not ‘productive?’  Being ‘busy’ in your business, does not always equal success.  Today, Jane joins me for a live coaching session to work through how her negative thoughts and how ‘being busy’ is holding her back in building a thriving business.

Leadership is leading by example - showing up every day and doing the work

For so many of us, especially in our western culture where achievement is looked highly upon, being busy and being part of ‘the hustle’ is looked highly upon….not just from other people, but even when we’re dealing with ourselves as well!

We love and embrace ‘the hustle!’  So much so, that we convince ourselves that just being busy is enough.

We get a sense of accomplishment just from being busy.  Some of us, myself included at times, find our worth in the craziness of being busy.

But, there’s a HUGE difference between being busy and being productive.

When you’re taking ‘passive action,’ (organizing, scrolling through social media, and reading personal development books) vs working your income producing activities gives a sense of accomplishment and worthiness, but does NOT build you a successful business in the long run.

Plus, when you’re busy but not productive, you are not being the example and leader you need to be to your team.  Your unwillingness to take the right actions is holding you AND them back.

So stay tune as Jane and I discuss how to conquer fear of failure, how to lead by example, and importance of not defining your own worthiness by how busy you are in your business

There are 3 different identities you must adopt in order to become massively successful in your network marketing business.

Your value in life isn’t in the things that you do; it’s in who you are

I have to admit, I had my own challenges when beginning my network marketing team. However, the concept of identity led me to the single greatest ‘aha moment’ of my career.

Here is the problem that most of us have: our identities (how we see ourselves) limit our results.

Our day is dominated by negative thoughts, stories, and beliefs that limiting us. But I want you to understand that success is not a matter of doing; it’s a matter of being.

So here are 3 Identities needed for network marketing success.

First, understand that you are a BUSINESS OWNER. I’ve seen a lot of people work on their business when they feel like it, when it’s convenient, or when they feel motivated.  And this is a very dangerous place to be. So beginning today, I want you to start thinking like a business owner. Start treating it like a real business. Identify the characteristics of a successful business owner and start living by them today.

The second Identity is a NETWORK MARKETER. If you want to become successful in this profession, you don’t ‘do network marketing.’  Nope! You must become a network marketer. The key is to shift from a saleman’s mindset to a service mindset. Your business can make you tons of money, but that money and success is only as good as what you do with it to help others.

Last, you are a LEADER. Most of us have impostor’s syndrome.  We’re so worried people will find out that ‘we don’t know everything’ that we don’t even start.  These are simply limiting beliefs about ourselves when it comes to leadership. So here is my advice, stop focusing on what you don’t have and haven’t done yet.  Instead, start showing some appreciation for the things you have done, and what you have already in your life. You don’t need to have a team to be a leader. You only need to begin by leading the most important person – YOURSELF.
